Wrestler Spotlight- Bobby Roode
October 5th 2011 01:03
Beer Money’s Bobby Roode looks to take his professional wrestling career to the next level after winning the Bound for Glory Series at No Surrender. As a result Bobby Roode will now challenge TNA World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle at Impact Wrestling’s biggest PPV of the year Bound for Glory. Without a doubt Roode’s upcoming Bound for Glory match marks the most significant bout in the wrestler’s 13 year career. The TNA World Heavyweight Title match could easily influence where Bobby Roode’s career goes from here.
Bobby Roode winning the Bound for Glory Series proved surprising seeing how the TNA grappler spent the majority of his time in the company as a tag team wrestler. Upon his debut in Impact Wrestling Roode held the enforcer role in the Team Canada stable. He often teamed with fellow Team Canada member Eric Young and even won the TNA Tag Team Titles together. After Team Canada separated the Canadian went into limbo as a singles star. A feud with wrestling legend Booker T and some interaction with Christian Cage’s Christian Coalition showcased Roode’s potential to be a main event heel. He even developed a catchphrase to end his interviews “It pays to be rude.”
Ironically, just as Bobby Roode’s singles career began to build momentum TNA teamed him up with fellow heel and past tag team wrestler James Storm. Sharing great chemistry together fans couldn’t help but like the new tandem christened Beer Money. Together Roode and Storm wrestled many memorable tag team matches, including a street fight at Lockdown 2009 against Team 3D and a best of five matches series with Motor City Machine Guns in 2010. While Bobby Roode now prepares for his first one-on-one World Heavyweight Title shot he remains affiliated with his Beer Money associate James Storm.
