The Youth of TNA
August 1st 2009 22:43
At times TNA Wrestling concerns me. I feel they put too much focus on the already established stars like Kurt Angle, Sting, and Mick Foley. Having such veterans on their roster should be an advantage for TNA. They should be able to use the veterans to help put over the younger talent like AJ Styles, Abyss, and the Motor City Machine Guns. This doesn’t always happen though. However, lately a few of TNA’s young lions have been peeking their way into the spotlight. With this post I’m going to highlight those wrestlers.
Hernandez
For years Hernandez has dazzled TNA as one half of the tag team LAX. His speed and ability in the ring is simply amazing for a man his size. Hernandez reminds me of Mike Awesome from the original ECW. Awesome was big but had the agility of a cruiserweight. I was concerned this past Thursday on iMPACT! that Hernandez would be buried in his match with Samoa Joe. To my surprise Hernandez went over with the victory. I can only hope this will launch a Joe/Hernandez feud that will be able to push Hernandez into main event status.
Beer Money
One day James Storm and Robert Roode will make great single stars. However, I hope that day is still a few years away. I say that because I want to see a few more years of Beer Money together as a tag team. As far as tag team wrestling goes Beer Money is a flashback to the teams of yesteryear. They wear matching ring attire and have chemistry together. Tag team wrestling is a lost art but with teams like Beer Money, Motor City Machine Guns, and the British Invasion TNA can bring tag team wrestling back to the limelight.
Eric Young
I never understood why TNA ever pushed Eric Young. He was nothing more than a comedy gimmick. Or at least that is what I thought. Lately Eric Young has proved otherwise. He is showing potential as a serious heel. Leading the World Elite could be the opportunity Eric Young needs to break out into superstardom. I’m hoping Eric Young will get to have some PPV matches with AJ Styles. If those work out well, which I think they would, Young should be allowed to move on to feud with the likes of Sting and Mick Foley.
