TNA Top 10 Matches: Kurt Angle vs. Mr. Anderson Lockdown 2010
May 25th 2012 02:27
If you read this blog semi-regularly, you probably know I consider the Hogan/Bischoff TNA era one with few highlights. Yet Kurt Angle vs. Mr. Ken Anderson from Lockdown 2010 provides one such highlight. Admittedly the storyline featured some wrestling clichés. Face it, doing an angle where the bad guy mocks American patriotism doesn’t prove too original. Still, effectiveness power clichés’ popularities and thus one reason Kurt Angle vs. Mr. Anderson ranks sixth on my TNA Top 10 Matches list.
Basically the in-ring action and psychology pushed me to include the Lockdown 2010 bout on my TNA Top 10 Matches countdown. Kurt Angle and Mr. Anderson worked well together in both categories. Subtract one snafu and Kurt Angle vs. Ken Anderson would’ve likely cracked my top five. However I couldn’t ignore this error.
Of course I’m talking about when Kurt Angle tosses the key out of the cage. The key remained a focal point heading towards the PPV. In a ladder match on Impact Mr. Anderson won the right to possess the item during the cage match. So Angle throwing out the key seemed a logical move. What contradicted the action occurred later when the 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist magically produces (metaphorically speaking) another random key.
Overall though the efforts Kurt Angle and Mr. Anderson displayed garners enough praise from me to stand in at number six on my TNA Top 10 Matches list. See you Sunday when we begin to delve into my list’s top five.
