TNA Heavyweight Title Picture
February 19th 2011 00:54
Mr. Anderson, Matt Morgan, and Jeff Hardy have been involved in the TNA Heavyweight Title picture the past few months. Mr. Anderson and Matt Morgan, two wrestlers who haven’t been in a mainstream company’s heavyweight title scene before, have served as refreshing changes from the usual main event players. Matt Morgan, however, has seemingly separated from the TNA Heavyweight Title scene recently.
Rob Van Dam, “The Whole F’n Show,” has stepped up to fill the void left by Matt Morgan. Van Dam, albeit a familiar face to the heavyweight title scene, still adds intrigue. RVD had to vacate the title last year after getting attacked by Abyss. Jeff Hardy, Van Dam’s friend, later revealed he orchestrated the attack. Hardy went on to win the vacated TNA Heavyweight Title at Bound for Glory.
Jeff Hardy has done his best to avoid his former ally but on Impact this past week Hardy had to defend the title against Van Dam. Mr. Anderson, who actually won the TNA Heavyweight Title from Hardy at January’s PPV but lost the title at Against All Odds, found himself in the role of special guest referee after complaining as former champion he should get the first title match against Hardy.
The Hardy/RVD title match concluded with controversy. Mr. Anderson missed a low blow Hardy delivered to Van Dam. Hardy capitalized on the low blow to remain TNA Heavyweight Champion. RVD can now complain Mr. Anderson cost him the opportunity to win the TNA Heavyweight Title back. Mr. Anderson, meanwhile, can now demand his rematch.
Considering RVD had to wait six months before getting a shot at the title he never lost, Van Dam can say he should receive another title bout, leading to an argument with Mr. Anderson. Add the fact both wrestlers have history with Jeff Hardy and the TNA Heavyweight Title picture reveals to have exciting new dimensions.
