The Raw Walkout
October 12th 2011 23:43
Triple H can no longer call himself WWE COO thanks to the Raw walkout Monday, October 3rd. During a public confidence vote WWE wrestlers, referees, divas, and commentators voted no confidence in Triple H’s abilities as COO. Concerns over an unsafe work environment motivated WWE staff to walkout on “The Game” and Monday Night Raw promising to only return when Triple H steps down as COO. The entire situation made the beginning to Monday Night Raw this past Monday extremely intriguing.
Camera crews floated around the arena showing the empty announce table and nearly deserted backstage area. Eventually the camera found Triple H as he exited his office and made his way to ringside. Not intimidated by the Raw walkout Triple H refused to step down as COO. Superstars John Cena, Sheamus, and CM Punk soon joined the former World Heavyweight Champion in the ring to reveal their refusals to participate in the walkout. On a whim Triple H booked a match, John Cena vs. Sheamus with CM Punk on commentary and the COO himself as referee.
A few minutes into the bout Mr. McMahon made a surprise appearance breaking up the festivities and announcing the WWE Board of Directors dismissed Triple H from his COO duties. The announcement ended the walkout as the protestors returned to work. Overall the storyline created compelling television and the October 10th Monday Night Raw became must see. Next week’s Raw should prove interesting too as you wonder if John Cena, Sheamus, and CM Punk will hold resentment towards the rest of the roster and if guys like John Morrison and Jerry Lawler will regret their decisions to walkout.
