Watch the Red Bull Air Race LIVE!
A few months ago seekextreme reported that the exhilarating Red Bull Air Race would be held in the Western Australia capital of Perth. (To read the previous post click HERE).
Now over on the official site the organizers have announced that the final days event will be broadcast live online.
From redbullairrace.com:
"For the first time ever, the Red Bull Air Race will be broadcast live online at www.redbullairrace.com. The grand finale of the 2008 World Championship in Perth, Australia will be aired on Sunday 2nd November enabling fans to follow all the thrills and excitement in real time. The race will be presented by Nick Fellows and former Red Bull Air Race pilot Frank Versteegh. Those who miss the live webcast will be able to watch the replays afterwards.
The Red Bull Air Race is currently broadcast on television stations in over 100 countries worldwide and the online webcast from Perth will provide another means to enjoy the final showdown of the season. “This is one more step towards being able to provide the full Red Bull Air Race live experience and it’s something that our fans around the globe can look forward to in the future”, said Kim Bernhard Head of TV & New Media for Red Bull Air Race.
It has been a spectacular season for the global motorsports competition, which has seen second year sensation Austrian Hannes Arch overtake Britain’s Paul Bonhomme to lead the Red Bull Air Race World Championship going into the final race. Arch needs just one point in Perth to clinch the title but Bonhomme, who had been the hot favourite this year, could still win if he comes first in Perth and Arch finishes with zero points. The Championship is by no means over yet and the heat will be on in Australia.
Don’t miss out – log on to www.redbullairrace.com on Sunday 2nd November to watch the race live at the following times:

So far the competition has been hotter than the rocket fuelled engines that propell these stunt pilots through the obscene obstacles of the course.
According to a report on E365.com:
"Paul Bonhomme, Kirby Chambliss and Mike Mangold have been duelling all season long – and for the last four years – for supremacy in the world’s most exciting aerial competition. They have all had their winning streaks over the years but none have proven to be unbeatable for long.
But they were all taken by surprise – and overtaken – this year by Hannes Arch, the Austrian who in his second year soared from 10th place overall to open a 9-point lead on 54 points going into Perth. It would take a minor miracle for Bonhomme, currently in 2nd on 45 points, to overtake Arch and win the 2008 championship – Arch would have to finish with zero points and Bonhomme would have to win to pick up the 9 points."
Apologies for the second hand reports, sadly I wasn't able to make it over to Perth, but rest assured that this writer will be rivetted to the televised images to come.
Here is a great promo clip for the Perth show.
