Raw's New Talent
July 15th 2009 15:08
Three weeks ago a 15 man trade, orchestrated by Donald Trump, left a lasting impression on the WWE Universe. My favorite WWE brand, ECW, went under tremendous roster changes. Amongst those changes were the losses of Jack Swagger, Mark Henry, and Evan Bourne to Monday Night Raw. Today I would like to take some time to discuss how Jack Swagger, Mark Henry, and Evan Bourne are doing as Raw superstars.
The All-American American Jack Swagger
I’m calling it now- Jack Swagger will be a future WWE main eventer for years to come. He has the size that the WWE looks for and the athleticism needed to put on wrestling clinics. His current character is smug which works because of his appearance. One glance at Swagger will make almost any wrestling fan want to slap him. Hopefully Jack Swagger’s feud with MVP will help elevate the All-American American to new heights in the WWE Universe.
The World’s Strongest Man Mark Henry
Mark Henry has been in the WWE Universe for seemingly forever. Henry was a member of the Nation of Domination back in the 1990s. He is a proud parent along with Mae Young to a hand. The World’s Strongest Man eventually became a ladies man changing his nickname to “Sexual Chocolate”. Henry enjoyed his most success in the main event scene on Smackdown! a few years ago. Despite all of this he has never captured my interest, until now. The WWE is doing a great job of building Mark Henry up as an unstoppable monster on Raw. The question left to be answered is “When the time comes for Mark Henry to step up his game and have a quality match, will he be able to do so?” Sadly, I think the answer to that question is no.
Evan “Air” Bourne
I like Evan Bourne. I have always been a fan of high-flyers and Evan Bourne is no different. Before I go any further I want to say Evan Bourne should be proud he has achieved the level of success he has already in the WWE. Before entering the WWE Universe, Evan Bourne was known as Matt Sydal on the independent circuit. The WWE does not seem keen on high-flyers or their style so the fact Evan Bourne is on the premier WWE brand says a lot. However, with no cruiserweight division Bourne could easily get lost in the shuffle on Raw. Personally, I would like to see Evan Bourne have a reign as United States champion as I think that will be the most success he will be able to achieve on Raw. As a fan of his I wish to see the sky as the limit for the high flyer but realistically I don’t see it happening.
