Scuba Diving with Great White Sharks

Into the Jaws of Madness
Not so much a sport as an extreme pursuit, when you play with any predatory animal in its native habitat it is at once extremely moronic from a primal survival instinct perspective and an act of awe inspiring courage.
This post is inspired by the headline photograph that appeared on the front page of Sydney’s Daily Telegraph newspaper on Tuesday. Done in the name of discovery, conquering fears or getting in the water to fulfill a personal need to get closer to nature’s deadly man eaters, this is what wonderment must be all about.
Shot underwater with the camera looking towards the sky, we see a diver treading water on the surface of the open ocean. No cage, spear gun down, with one hand extended slightly to touch the nose of a Great White Shark over 15 foot long. He pats the most fascinatingly terrifying symbol of watery death, as if it were a domesticated beast.
Long held, Jaws fuelled myths that all these sea creatures do is “eat, swim and make little sharks” were instantly shattered at first glance.
I do apologise for not being able to find a larger rendering of this unforgettable image online, (It’s a conspiracy I tell you) still the picture affected me so much that I had to write about it anyway, in hopes of you all keeping an eye out for it.
Don’t worry, I’m not going to write 1000 words to just prove the old adage true. Instead here are a few more amazing shots of humans venturing into the domain of this endlessly enigmatic and extreme killer of deep.
This guy is insane and maybe not in that good way. Witness a man leave the safety of the cage to swim with a huge Great White Shark.

So you think a cage is safe from a great white in fulflight, think again. Not for weak hearted
In the cage watching the shark in brutal action
Now on a lighter note Shark Surfing, sport of the future perhaps...obviously fake but still fun
