Kevin Nash, Really?
September 1st 2011 16:08
Summerslam witnessed Kevin Nash’s WWE return. Nash returned by delivering a Jackknife Powerbomb to CM Punk after Punk won the WWE Champion vs. WWE Champion match. Next Alberto Del Rio cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and won Punk’s WWE Title. The bout’s aftermath leads us to a Triple H/Kevin Nash/CM Punk storyline. As the storyline plays out I can’t help but steal a line from the WWE Universe. That line is the response The Miz receives when he goes “I’m The Miz and I’m…” because in all honesty Kevin Nash in 2011 is “AWFUL!”
Why do I say that? For starters, Kevin Nash can’t really go physically anymore. I respect the sacrifices professional wrestlers make with their bodies but a time comes when you need to bow out. Nash should follow his friend Shawn Michaels’s lead and retire for good. The other reason I call Nash “AWFUL” comes from the fact Nash’s promos bore. Thinking back Nash always proved most entertaining when partnering with someone possessing strong mic skills, like a HBK or Scott Hall. Good mic workers know how to effectively use pitch and cadence. “Big Sexy” just rants while yelling.
The subject matter featured in Kevin Nash’s interviews doesn’t really help him either. I believe at one point Nash told Triple H because Nash isn’t an official WWE superstar he doesn’t have to put CM Punk “over.” Interestingly enough the exact opposite occurs. CM Punk’s superior interview skills provide the only reason Nash segments in 2011 hold entertainment value.
