Jeff Hardy Controversy
March 14th 2011 22:06
Jeff Hardy and “The Icon” Sting set the Internet wrestling world abuzz with their TNA Heavyweight Title match last night at Victory Road. Unfortunately for TNA Wrestling, the buzz created is negative. Sting defeated Hardy to retain his title in less than 90 seconds. Jeff Hardy made the reason for the bout’s quickness apparent during his entrance. Hardy couldn’t walk in a straight line and he stumbled up the steps into the ring, signs Hardy was too impaired to compete. Sting shared the same frustrations as fans. Sting exhibited his frustrations through the stern look he gave Hardy following the pin and the clear “I agree, I agree” statement Sting said when the crowd started chanting “Bullshit.”
I hope in the next few days Sting stands up as a veteran locker room leader and tells Dixie Carter and the others in charge things need to change. I’ve read rumors over the years Carter thinks highly of Sting and that she believes Sting’s name gives TNA Wrestling credibility. If true, Sting has the power to influence decisions. Add the fact he is the current TNA Heavyweight Champion, Sting holds even more influence. He can threaten to take the title and walk away if TNA Wrestling continues to enable Jeff Hardy.
Ideally I want Sting to say something along the lines “I can compete with homegrown stars, such as AJ Styles and Samoa Joe, along with capable veterans, like Kurt Angle and Jeff Jarrett, but Jeff Hardy needs to be removed until he gets his life straightened out.” TNA Wrestling put Sting in a potentially dangerous situation when the company trotted out Hardy for last night’s title match. Sting handled the situation professionally and deserves credit for the way he dealt with Hardy’s unprofessional behavior.
