WWE vs TNA- Jan. 4th
January 1st 2010 20:31
No one can argue that the wrestling industry was at a peak when there was competition between WWE and WCW. Since the downfall of WCW we have seen many positives, but also many negatives, from the WWE. The rise of TNA Wrestling has given wrestling fans hope that a new wrestling war will ignite, bringing the wrestling industry to another peak. TNA Wrestling, with Hulk Hogan on their side, hopes to ignite that war this Monday as TNA goes head to head with the WWE’s flagship show, Monday Night Raw. In hopes of destroying TNA in the ratings the WWE has enlisted the services of the legendary Bret “Hitman” Hart. Wrestling fans are eagerly participating this Monday, interested to see how TNA Wrestling holds up against the WWE and to see Bret Hart on WWE television for the first time in 12 years.
While I want TNA to do well I believe their decision to go up against the WWE is premature. Let’s face it- TNA Wrestling does half the numbers of what WCW did back in WCW’s dying days. TNA Wrestling is not ready to compete with the WWE, even with the acquisition of the washed up Hulk Hogan. TNA Wrestling has some great talents, like AJ Styles and Desmond Wolfe, but they need to better market their product so more people know about TNA. I will give credit where credit is due, TNA is doing a good job promoting this coming Monday’s show. The question that remains though is “have they done enough promotion?” Time will tell soon enough.
On a side note, I do plan to continue my “Best of the Decade” posts through January. I became side-tracked in the middle of December and I still have some posts, highlighting the best of wrestling from 2000-2009, I want to share.
