Hey WWE! I'm Losing Interest
September 9th 2009 15:26
I’m a lifelong wrestling fan. However, in the 2000s I started losing interest in the WWE. Eventually I stopped watching the WWE completely. A few months ago when I started up this wrestling blog I decided to give the WWE another shot. In the past two weeks I’ve noticed my interest in the WWE slowly fading again.
While the guest hosts of Raw are interesting, their segments at the beginning of the shows go on for too long, motivating me to flip the channel to watch “Two & a Half Men”. I am more interested in watching Smackdown but since the new season of “Monk” started, I haven’t tuned into Smackdown. I figure, why watch the first half of the show if I’m planning to change the station at 9:00pm? Plus, by Friday I don’t feel like watching any wrestling, especially if I watched any combination of Raw, ECW, and TNA Impact during the week.
The only WWE show I consistently watch is ECW. I like ECW for a couple of reasons. First, the show is an hour long so it doesn’t take up too much of my valuable time. Secondly, ECW is wrestling. They seemingly manage to squeeze in four matches into an hour program every week. ECW provides more wrestling than sports entertainment and that is exactly what I want to see from the WWE.
The bottom line is there are too many entertaining television shows out there for the WWE to be competitive on an entertainment level. The WWE needs to stick with their strengths and provide wrestling orientated material. They need to provide a “can’t miss” athletic show. Otherwise, I’m going to continue to watch “Two & a Half Men”, “Monk”, and other television shows and stop watching Raw and Smackdown altogether.

B) They need to bring back stables. In the 80's, Mr. Fugi, Bobby "The Brain", Slick, etc... used to have 3-5 wrestlers who tagged with each other, watched each others backs, and kept the belt within the groups. WWE needs more of that.
C) If they want to gain more viewers, stop re-doing the same matches. How many John Cena and Randy Orton matches can their be? Same goes for Triple H... Time to elevate some of the younger guys and/or give the title to another heel for a long run such as Chris Jericho.
