Gregory Iron Interview Bonus Material
August 25th 2011 12:53
Last month, as I mentioned a few weeks ago in my post “Pro Wrestling Ohio,” I interviewed independent pro wrestler Gregory Iron. The most dedicated Internet wrestling fans started talking about Iron after Ring of Honor star Colt Cabana and WWE Superstar CM Punk praised Iron at AAW Wrestling Scars and Stripes. I used the interview to write the piece “Inspirational Profile: Gregory Iron” for Associated Content.
I wish to use today’s post to share some information which didn’t make it into my Associated Content article, in essence some bonus material. Despite having cerebral palsy (CP) Iron calls his professional wrestling career “meant to be.” Iron’s CP affects his right side, most specifically his right arm. He notes however everything in wrestling begins with the left side. Considering this Gregory Iron seems born to wrestle. In general Iron sees himself as lucky commenting on his CP “It could be a lot worse. I’m fortunate.”
During our interview Iron indicated much skepticism exists on the independent wrestling circuit for wrestlers. The main reason involves money. Wrestlers on the independent scene take the same physical beating as household names like John Cena and Kurt Angle but without earning the same enticing salaries. Iron made apparent to survive on the independent wrestling scene you really need to possess a love for the industry.
