Daniel Bryan Indirectly Calls Out "Hallow Champions"
October 30th 2011 16:30
WWE Smackdown Money in the Bank winner Daniel Bryan in a recent WWE.com video exclusive inferred previous Money in the Bank winners to be “hallow champions.” His remarks came when asked if he thought about using his Money in the Bank briefcase at Vengeance, after the World Heavyweight Title match ended in a no contest, to “grab a title.” Bryan answered “What does ‘grabbing a title’ mean? If I can just go out there and grab a title it doesn’t mean anything.” He went on to explain how his entire career has been about hard work and how he wants to earn the World Heavyweight Title, not just take advantage of a situation.
I am now a huge Daniel Bryan fan after hearing his comments. As I mention in “Debate: WWE’s Money in the Bank Gimmick- Positive or Negative Influence?,” an article I published at associatedcontent.com, a downfall to Money in the Bank involves the loss of special title victories. Moments like Eddie Guerrero’s WWE Title victory at No Way Out 2004 and other victories I discuss in my Associated Content piece “Emotional WWE World Heavyweight Title Wins” have become causalities to the Money in the Bank era.
Personally, I’m hopeful Daniel Bryan will make similar comments on television broadcasts. This could create an interesting feud with first Jack Swagger and then eventually The Miz and Alberto Del Rio. High profile feuds with The Miz and Alberto Del Rio seems like an ideal way to prepare Smackdown Money in the Bank winner Daniel Bryan for a World Heavyweight Title match at Wrestlemania XXVIII.
