CM Punk Gone, Fallout Arrives
July 21st 2011 17:01
The unthinkable happened Sunday, July 17th at Money in the Bank. “The Straight Edge Superstar” CM Punk defeated John Cena for the WWE Title. In the weeks leading up to Money in the Bank Punk announced Sunday, July 17th as the date his WWE contract expires and vowed to leave Chicago, his hometown, and the WWE with the company’s prize possession. Following Punk’s victory over John Cena Mr. McMahon grabbed Jerry Lawler’s headset and demanded the Raw Money in the Bank winner Alberto Del Rio come down to cash in. Punk knocked out ADR with a kick before the Mexican aristocrat could cash in. “The Straight Edge Superstar” then left the WWE as WWE Champion through his hometown crowd.
Mr. McMahon, who threatened to fire John Cena if CM Punk exited Money in the Bank WWE Champion, faced tough decisions the next day on Monday Night Raw. Should Mr. McMahon stick to his word and fire the WWE Universe’s favorite superstar John Cena? What about the WWE Title? What happens now with the WWE Champion a free agent? Mr. McMahon answered the second and third questions quickly, declaring no man bigger than the WWE. McMahon went on to announce an eight man tournament to determine a new WWE Champion. Rey Mysterio and The Miz advanced to the tournament’s finals before Mr. McMahon came back out to deal with the John Cena situation.
Fans received a pleasant surprise when Triple H showed up and interrupted Mr. McMahon. Unfortunately for Mr. McMahon Triple H didn’t bring pleasant news. Triple H announced the WWE Board of Directors decreed, based off the CM Punk situation, Mr. McMahon no longer fit for the Chairman position. Triple H informed Vince the Board voted Triple H the new WWE Chairman. With Mr. McMahon gone what happens now? Do the WWE Title tournament finals still occur next week? What about CM Punk? What’s next for the “unemployed WWE Champion?” Will he stir up trouble using Twitter or will he lay low? Only time will reveal the results to this compelling WWE storyline.
