DVD Review: "Brian Pillman Loose Cannon"

Over the past month I’ve reviewed “Born to Controversy the Roddy Piper Story” and “Jake ‘the Snake’ Roberts Pick Your Poison,” both WWE Home Video releases I passed on during their initial releases but purchased cheaply earlier this year. Today I wish to review “Brian Pillman Loose Cannon,” a DVD I actually bought during the initial 2006 release. I did notice however “Brian Pillman Loose Cannon” is currently on sale at Amazon for $5.19.
The “Brian Pillman Loose Cannon” documentary provides an inspirational look into Brian Pillman’s all too short life. You don’t even need to like wrestling to find motivation in Pillman’s story. He battled polyps at a young age, enduring over 40 surgeries. In high school he was told he was too small to play football yet he went on to become an All-City and All-State athlete. Still, colleges didn’t offer him scholarships due to his size. Therefore Pillman walked on at Miami of Ohio where he became a star player. Even still, Brian didn’t get drafted in the NFL Draft due to his size. See a pattern? No matter the obstacle though, Brian Pillman found a way to triumph.
Inside the professional wrestling ring “Flying Brian” entertained like no other before him. For just a two-disc set the WWE crammed a lot of fun matches onto “Brian Pillman Loose Cannon.” The best matches on the DVD include a bout with Jushin “Thunder” Liger at WCW SuperBrawl II, Wargames from WCW WrestleWar ’91 and the five-on-five tag team match from WWE Canadian Stampede ’97.
In conclusion, if you don’t already own “Brian Pillman Loose Cannon,” you’d be a fool to pass up the WWE Home Video release at $5.19.
