Bound for Glory is to TNA what Wrestlemania is to the WWE and what Starcade was to WCW. Some people think, outside of TNA’s own hype for the event, Bound for Glory is just another TNA pay per view. However, Bound for Glory does hold special significance. The first Bound for Glory, held in 2005, was the 12th monthly pay per view TNA ever held. The event celebrated a year’s worth of sweat, blood, and effort. Every year Bound for Glory celebrates TNA’s growth and progress as a company.
In past years Bound for Glory has delivered dream matches such as Team 3D/Steiner Brothers and Samoa Joe/Jushin “Thunder” Lyger. This year TNA looks to deliver with AJ Styles/Sting. Despite Sting returning to fulltime competition in 2006 I do not think he has wrestled AJ Styles in a one-on-one match. Another dream match that seems likely for Bound for Glory this year is Abyss/Mick Foley. I have been waiting to see Abyss/Foley since Mick Foley entered TNA last October. Abyss/Foley may be the biggest hardcore dream match since Cactus Jack wrestled Sabu in the ECW Arena in 1994.
Matt Morgan/Kurt Angle is also intriguing because the two have never faced off one-on-one before. Depending on how the rest of the Bound for Glory card fills out TNA could be on the cusp of something great. Only time will tell if TNA is really bound for glory!
