Australia Qualifys for the BMX Beijing Olympics
He’s going to fast, he’s losing control, he crashes, he falls...splat! So after having my ritual rant about extreme sports being excluded in Olympic events, today I’ve stumbled on a story that indeed confirms that BMX is officially entered in competition at this year’s Olympiad.
Talk about missing the starting gun. Better to skate than be late, turns out it was announced way back in 2003 that BMX would be included in the international event. The qualifying races were held last week and 3 Australians have made it through to the big game.
From gensbmx.com here are the nations ranked after Qualifying with the number of cyclists who made it.
