Three Reasons Alberto Del Rio Should Retain the WWE Title at Vengeance
October 22nd 2011 23:54
Tomorrow (Sunday, October 23rd) WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio will defend his title against John Cena at Vengeance. ADR won the WWE Title after cashing in his Money in the Bank contract at Summerslam right after CM Punk defeated Cena to become Undisputed WWE Champion. The following month at Night of Champions John Cena defeated “The Mexican Aristocrat” to win the WWE Title. A cunning victory at Hell in a Cell over Cena and CM Punk saw Alberto Del Rio become a two-time WWE Champion. Should the back and forth title possessions continue at Vengeance? Here are three reasons to answer that question “No.”
One- Rebuild Title Credibility
My biggest pet peeve about the WWE involves their titles losing credibility over the years. Varying reasons exist for this occurrence and frequent title changes fail to improve the situation. Giving “The Mexican Aristocrat” a few months as the number one guy will help bring prestige back to the WWE Championship. Now I’m not suggesting ADR defeat John Cena cleanly at Vengeance. No, Del Rio can use heel tactics to retain his title. This way the feud keeps going.
Two- Commit to Alberto Del Rio
2011 will go down as the year of Alberto Del Rio. “The Mexican Aristocrat” established his status in the WWE Universe as a main event guy by winning the Royal Rumble, the Raw Money in the Bank briefcase, and his first WWE Title. Unfortunately these accomplishments have somewhat been tainted. ADR failed to win the World Heavyweight Title from Edge at Wrestlemania XXVII and his first reign as WWE Champion only lasted a month. Alberto Del Rio successfully defending his WWE Title at Vengeance would show commitment from the WWE to ADR’s main event status.
Three- The Total Package
No, don’t go looking for Lex Luger. By “the total package” I’m referencing all the skills required to succeed in the wrestling industry. The most triumphant stars in wrestling ooze charisma, just like Alberto Del Rio does. ADR’s body language and cadence when speaking give “The Mexican Aristocrat” a fantastic presence. A win over John Cena at Vengeance will provide proof the WWE recognizes Alberto Del Rio’s potential.
