Adjusting Solomon Bindings to fit Boot
Continuing on from last week’s tutorial “How to Adjust the Din on Solomon Ski’s”, today I’m going to discuss the basic adjustment of Salomon ski bindings to your fit boot size.
A quick history lesson, back in the day Ski’s were made with a specific left and right foot. Now they are interchangeable, fitting your boot into the binding can be done with either foot.
Step 1 in this exercise is to grab your boot and have a look for the sole length. Typically this can be found on the inside heel of the boot, generally in Millimeters.
Now that you have your boot length, go to your bindings (fitted to the ski) and you will find a sole length scale at both ends, on both sets. Finding the clip that will allow you to slide the bindings back and forth (they can usually be found on the either end of the binding, or on the base at either end.), then move the portion you arer manipulating into the marker position closest to your sole length.
Once both ends have been adjusted attempt to slide the boot into its home, where you will feel it click into place. Now turn the ski on its edge and a side window will display a small metal clip if the position is correct.
If no bar appears then adjust the rear portion of the binding by feel till it is snug against the rear heel of your boot. Check that position is secure and no slide is possible then reinsert boot and again check indented side window for metal bar. If it appears then the binding is the correct size.
A second visual aid for knowing if the boot and binding are set in unison is to line up the centre mark on your boot to the centre mark displayed on the face of your ski.
