3 3 11

TNA Wrestling’s website advertised this week a memorable surprise the final moments of Impact. Strangely TNA commentators Mike Tenay and Taz didn’t mention this surprise at all during the broadcast. You would think TNA Wrestling would want to hype such a surprise to ensure people stay tuned until the show’s end. Yet as time ticked to 10:59pm the surprise promoted on the company website remained seemingly non-existent. Finally Taz gave word the production truck just received some footage.
A mystery man (assumingly) wearing black boots and a trench coat walked around in the rain before starting to climb metal steps. As the mystery figure ascended the steps the screen transitioned to a “3 3 11” message. Sound familiar? The video directly ripped off the WWE’s “2 21 11” concept. The only major difference between TNA Wrestling’s “3 3 11” message and WWE’s “2 21 11” videos is the WWE actually put thought into their version.
The “3 3 11” video stunt reeks desperateness on TNA Wrestling’s behalf. Rather than stirring up excitement the way WWE’s “2 21 11” videos did, TNA Wrestling looks like children imitating their favorite wrestling promotion. If TNA Wrestling wants to ever become true WWE competition, stunts like the “3 3 11” video needs to stop so the promotion can focus on providing an original worthwhile product.
