06/16 Impact Wrestling Thoughts
June 17th 2011 04:55
TNA comes off Slammiversary IX strong with a solid Impact Wrestling broadcast. Folks over at the Rajah forums found a hot talking point with Gunner’s elevation into the TNA Heavyweight Title picture. Gunner pinned the legendary Sting last week on Impact Wrestling during a tag team match. This week Gunner defeated the new TNA Heavyweight Champion Mr. Anderson in a nontitle bout. Gunner’s critics argue Gunner doesn’t yield enough experience for his current position but I like the fact TNA attempts to establish a new star.
I’m also looking forward to watching the Bound for Glory Series unfold. I always felt despite professional wrestling’s scripted nature the industry could retain a realistic athletic competition illusion. The Bound for Glory Series brings this to life. Since the “Impact Wrestling” rebranding, TNA carries a “wrestling matters” motto. With the Bound for Glory Series point system TNA can now live their new motto because wrestling will matter.
Wrestling matters will also take center-stage at TNA’s next PPV Destination X. Destination X hopes to entice longtime TNA fans, specifically X-Division fans. The six-sided ring returns. X-Division stars, old and new, get spotlighted. Austin Aires already returned. Ultimate X takes place. Basically, Destination X holds a lot to become excited about. In Destination X spirit I plan to revive my “X-Division Flashback” posts. Checkout my older ones below-
Four-Way Double Elimination Match to Crown First X-Division Champion
Triple Ladder Match for the X-Division Title
First Ever Ultimate X
X-Division Gauntlet Victory Road 2004
Ultimate X Final Resolution 2005
